“Mr. Neutron Part 1” features Graham Chapman as Mr. Neutron, “the most dangerous and terrifying man in the world”. In the first of five installments detailing the incredible story of Mr. Neutron, Mr. Neutron, introduced by a voiceover as “the man with the strength of an army. The wisdom of all the scholars in history. The man who had the power to destroy the world”, arrives by train to a quiet London suburb. In the next scene he is sitting in his garden with Mr. and Mrs. Entrail (Terry Jones and Michael Palin), who are telling him about their family while he “waits for his moment to destroy this little world utterly”. Meanwhile in Washington, at the headquarters of F.E.A.R., news that Mr. Neutron is missing has spread and Captain Carpenter (Eric Idle) contacts the Supreme Commander of Land, Sea and Air Forces (Michael Palin) who puts out a “full scale red alert throughout the world” and mobilizes all fighting units to destroy Mr. Neutron.
“Mr. Neutron Part 1” premiered on 28 November 1974 in Series 4, Episode 5 of “Monty Python’s Flying Circus”, the third episode to feature a full-length story.
