In the first quarter final of the Men's Hero Hockey Champions Trophy in Bhubaneswar Pakistan produced one of the biggest shocks of the tournament defeating Netherlands 2-4 to reach the semi-finals.

The Netherlands made the breakthrough after six minutes when Jeroen Hertzberger scored his first goal of the tournament displaying some good skill before shooting through the legs of Imran Butt.

Pakistan drew level right at the start of the second quarter as Muhammad Umar Bhutta turned in a rebound from close range after Jaap Stockmann had done well to block a deflection from his own defender Mink van der Weerden.

Muhammad Rizwan SR. had a great opportunity to put Pakistan ahead but was denied by a fantastic save from Stockmann, however Pakistan did take the lead moments later as Muhammad Imran slotted in a penalty corner to give his side a 2-1 lead at half time.

Constantijn Jonker pulled the Netherlands level in the third quarter diverting in Rogier Hofman's pass but two goals in two minutes from Muhammad Irfan put Pakistan firmly in control with less than ten minutes remaining as they went on to claim their first win over the Netherlands in this tournament in 16 years.
