This drama was aired in 1969, before East Pakistan was separated from West Pakistan. Scripted by Khwaja Moinuddin in 1954, 'Taleem-e-Balighan' is a hilarious play with pinching satire and its theme is Quaid-e-Azam's motto of 'Faith, Unity, Discipline'. The play was a smashing success and was staged many times. PTV televised it and now it enjoys the status of being a classic in the history of teleplays.
The play focuses on the loss of these principles; Madrassah Taleem-e- Balighan represents the country and everything in this teaching institution has got twisted because the students have broken the rules of unity, faith and discipline.
As the original play goes, the setting was of a village school where a moulvi sahab, the teacher, is educating grown-up students who all came from different professions. Didactic as the script is, it is a masterpiece in terms of social satire.
