The Ekta Kapoor show started off on a high note, and maintained its momentum with a series of twists and turns, including the entry of an Ichchadhaari Nevla. While the nevla is on his way out, Naagin will follow suit after a few months. But she will live on.
The series apparently was a finite one and would have lasted only till January had it not got so much love from the audience. Meanwhile, the talks for a second season have already started, and the show might return in a new avatar with Gurmeet Choudhary in the main lead.
Moving at a ferocious speed from the very beginning, Naagin wiped out competition from rival shows like Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, Saath Nibhana Saathiya and Kumkum Bhagya week after week. The show, however, has registered a diminished TRP--4.4 this week, compared to last week's 5.8--and though it's a sharp decline, it is still ahead of its competition. Saath Nibhaana Saathiya stands at 3.8 and Kumkum Bhagya managed a 3.1 rating for the first week of January, according to data from BARC. The show's challenge now is to sustain the viewers' interest for four more months, so that they eagerly await its second season.
