Mohd Faiz Subri free kick, Wonderful moment in football history

A polite doff of the cap is most definitely due to Penang FA striker Mohd Faiz Subri, who stuck away an absolute beauty against Pahang in the Malaysian Super League this afternoon.
Stationed 30-odd yards out on the left-hand side of the penalty area, Subri proceeded to curl an absolute stonker right across the face of goal and into the far top corner…

When someone says the words "Roberto Carlos free-kick", every single one of you will instantly think of one thing.

Le Tournoi, 1997, Brazil v France… and the notorious banana strike. The once-in-a-lifetime free-kick that curled in a way that seemed physically impossible.

It was a uniquely wonderful moment in football history - except that it's no longer unique. Mohd Faiz Subri just scored a free-kick that might actually have out-bent Bobby C's banana (so to speak).

If you haven't heard of Mohd Faiz Subri, fear not - he's the Pulau Pinang attacking midfielder who scored the screamer you can see above. It came in his side's 4-1 win against Pahang, in the Malaysian Super League.
