BINACA GEETMALA, which later called "Cibaca Geetmala" and thereafter, "Colgate-Cibaca Geetmala" commenced over the Commercial Hindi Service of - RADIO CEYLON towards the end of 1952 and shifted to All-India Radio's- VIVIDH BHARATI network in 1989. In 1977, GEETMALA celebrated its silver jubilee with a Grand Star-studded stage show. Almost all the great playback singers, music composers and lyricists of that era attended, and were treated to a visual hit-parade of twenty-five super-hit songs. Two special LP discs entitled "GEETMALA SILVER JUBILEE PRESENTATION" were released by - The Gramophone Company of India Ltd ( HMV ) around that time, featuring the top hits of 25 years, till the year 1977. The commentary ( by AMEEN SAYANI ) of the two special Geetmala Jubilee LP discs also contained the fascinating story of the birth and growth of the radio hit-parade. AMEEN SAYANI ran the programme to record-smashing success for nearly 45 years earning a place among the world's top broadcasters. Ameen Sayani, born on December 21,1932- is famous for his golden voice and is a popular radio announcer from India and his residence is in Mumbai,Maharashtra,India and he is one of the most imitated announcers even today. He achieved fame and popularity all across South Asia when he presented his- Binaca Geet Mala program of hits over the airwaves of Radio Ceylon. His style of addressing crowd with " Behno aur Bhaiyo" is still being treated as announcement with melodious touch and he was conferred the Padma Shree award in 2009 and has been felicitated with many awards. In my this video, I replaced audio songs with short video songs and added movie-posters to let the viewers know which movie the song they are going to watch next actually belongs to, but I kept the commentary part - by Ameen Sayani - in both LP discs untouched and fully presented as it was in those 2 LP discs released around the year 1977. Enjoy the video! Bye and THANKS!! RANJIT SINGH.
