This Ghazal is sung by many singers like Ghulam Ali, Masood and sheelo Khan, Ibrar ul Haq, Nashenas , Lata and also is available in some Qawalli version. But to me in each composition one thing was not completely expressed & that is lack of feelings of a helpless human being in front of Almighty which i can feel here in Rahat's version.
This is recording from program Aadab-e-Khud Aagahi for Iqbgal's Birthday special and Mian Yousuf Salahuddin tells that Rahat Himself asked to sing this Kalam. Many thanks to Raat for saving us from Ibrar's version (lolzzz..i like that version too but Ibrar's version is nothing compare to this one)
so guys..lets enjoy this ghazal whis is a humble request of Iqbal to Almighty Allah and it asks us to to take a pause of few minutes and think, are we able to understand te actual meninges of religious rituals.

کہ ہزاروں سجدے تڑپ رہے ہيں مري جبين نياز ميں
تو بچابچا کے نہ رکھ اسے، ترا آئنہ ہے وہ آئنہ
کہ شکستہ ہو تو عزيز تر ہے نگاہ آئنہ ساز ميں
نہ کہيں جہاں ميں اماں ملي، جو اماں ملي تو کہاں ملي
مرے جرم خانہ خراب کو ترے عفو بندہ نواز ميں
نہ وہ عشق ميں رہيں گرمياں،نہ وہ حسن ميں رہيں شوخياں
نہ وہ غزنوي ميں تڑپ رہي، نہ وہ خم ہے زلف اياز ميں
جو ميں سر بسجدہ ہوا کبھي تو زميں سے آنے لگي صدا

O the much sought after Reality! Some time appear in material form
As innumerable prostrations restless in my humble forehead are

Do not jealously protect them , your mirrors are the mirrors
Which would be dearer in the Maker's eye if they broken are
(In Islamic mysticism, mirror is a metaphor of Heart.Iqbal says: apne dil ko bacha bacha kar na rakho tum darte ho ke kahin tumhaara dil dukhi na ho jaaey, toot na jaaey yaad rakho, dukhi aur toote huwey dil ooper waaley ki nazar mein ziyaada qeemti hain)

My wretched sins could not get shelter anywhere except
When they in the shade of Thy Gracious Forgiveness were

Neither Love has that warmth nor Beauty has that humor
Neither that restlessness in Ghaznavi nor those curls in the hair locks of Ayyaz are

Whenever I went into prostration a voice came from the earth
Your heart is in materialism no rewards for your prayers are

कभी ऐ हक़ीक़त-ए-मुन्तज़र! नज़र आ लिबास-ए-मजाज़ में
के हज़ारों सज्दे तड़प रहे हैं तेरी जबीन-ए-नियाज़ में
तू बचा बचा के न रख इसे तेरा आईना है वो आईना
के शिकस्ता हो तो अज़ीज़तर है निगाह-ए-आईना-साज़ में
न कहीं जहाँ में अमाँ मिली जो अमाँ मिली तो कहाँ मिली
मेरे जुर्म-ए-ख़ानाख़राब को तेरे उफ़्वे-ए-बंदा-नवाज़ में
न वो इश्क़ में रहीं गर्मियाँ न वो हुस्न में रहीं शोख़ियाँ
न वो ग़ज़नवी में तड़प रही न वो ख़म है ज़ुल्फ़-ए-अयाज़ में
मैं जो सर-ब-सज्दा कभी हुआ तो ज़मीं से आने लगी सदा
तेरा दिल तो है सनम-आशनाअ[ तुझे क्या मिलेगा नमाज़ में
