Master Madan Hairat se tak raha hey jahanE Wafa Indian Pakistan Urdu Hindi Punjabi songs music folk classical Master Madan was a talented Ghazal singer of India of pre-independence era. He is immensely popular despite the fact that he died at a very early age of only 14. During his life he only recorded eight songs, and only two of them are commonly available. He was born December 28, 1927, in khaana, a village in District Jalandhar of the Punjab. He died June 5, 1942.
Resurrection after death hardly ever happens but it has happened after nearly 60 years in the case of the singing boy-genius Master Madan who died in 1942 at the age of only 14. He has been rediscovered in recent years and a few of his unknown gramophone recordings have recently come to light. He has been suddenly written about extensively with all the due awe and adulation that he would fully deserve.
My discovery of him is by a chance discussion a few days ago with my singer friend B.N.Bahadur I.A.S Retd. Bahadur spoke about this boy genius who was even stated to have been poisoned to death by rivals. And we both listened to three of Master Madan's recordings from the Internet. They were simply brilliant.
Let me give a quick biographical sketch of this singing genius. Master Madan was born in a Sikh family at Khankhana in Jalandar District, Punjab, in Dec 1927. He died Simla in June 1942, when he was only 14 years and 5 months old. If only he had lived through the biblical three score and ten (70 years), he would perhaps have far outshone K.L.Saigal and succeeding singers by several miles.
