5. Largest Squid

The colossal squid, sometimes called the Antarctic or giant cranch squid, is believed to be the largest squid species in terms of mass. It is known from only a few specimens, and current estimates put its maximum size at 39–46 ft ( 12-14 meters ) long, based on analysis of smaller and immature specimens, making it the largest known invertebrate. It is so huge that its one eye is larger than a human head.

4. Largest Snake

The fossil of the largest snake to have ever lived was discovered in a mine located in Columbia. The fossils indicate that the giant boid snake was 42 feet (13 meters) long and weighed 2500 pounds (1250 kg)! This prehistoric reptile is believed to have been a massive anaconda-like beast that slithered through tropical rain forests 60 million years ago and fed on primitive crocodiles. It suffocated its prey with a vice strong enough to crush an old car!

The blue whale is a marine mammal belonging to the baleen whales. At 98 feet ( 30 meters ) in length and 190 tonnes or more in weight, it is the largest and heaviest animal species to have ever lived. As with other baleen whales, its diet consists almost exclusively of small crustaceans known as krill. In spite of its size though, they are hard to spot as they remain submerged for extended periods and rarely surface.
