Its dark now & yet no one had managed to break the Gokuldham Handi...Finally a group of kids come & they succeed in breaking the pot...Everyone rejoices...& just when Tapu sena is about to give away the cheque Champak stops them...There's a sudden silence & everyone is tensed...Champak looks angry & says that now a days everyone was being commercial in the name of festival & people are forgetting the main festive aspect...He also says that he wanted to take an objection right in the beginning when the kids had announced the prize money but didn't do it coz he did not wanted to demoralize them. Champak demands an explanation from the group leader as to how were they going to utilize the prize money...The group leader says that they were going to donate the entire amount to an orphanage & the money would be utilized for their education...Champak is happy & so are all the members of the society...They praise the group for supporting the noble cause & everyone claps for the group & give the prize money...Taarak then announces that tomorrow they would be celebrating 15th Aug in the society...Next day Bhide is all set to give a speech on independence day...Everyone in the society gather down, Taarak greets all everyone & requests Abdul to hoist the flag...Abdul is overwhelmed...He hoists the tri-color & they all sing the national anthem Jana-Gana-Mana...
The show is inspired from the famous humorous column 'Duniya Ne Undha Chasma' written by the eminent Gujarati writer Mr. Tarak Mehta. This story evolves around happenings in "Gokuldham Co-operative Society" and covers topical issues which are socially relevant.The show predominantly revolves around 'Jethalaal' (Dilip Joshi) who is an uneducated Gujarati businessman. Your 'Taarak Mehta' (Sailesh Lodha), is his neighbour. 'Jethalaal' finds a friend and philosopher in 'Taarak Mehta' and often goes to him for advice whenever he is in trouble. Jethalaal's family includes his simpleton wife 'Daya Ben' (Disha Wakani) and a mischievous son 'Tapu' (Bhavya Gandhi). Tapu is a menace and a constant source of trouble to all the members of Gokuldham. They have often warned 'Jethalaal' to reform 'Tapu' or else be prepared to leave the premises. Lost hopes of being heard by his son pushes Jethalaal' to call his father 'Champaklal' (Amit Bhatt) from the village. This was his great idea of leashing some control over the mischievous Tapu. The opposite happens and the grandfather joins hands with the grandson to make life a roller coaster troublesome ride for Jethalaal.
