26-year-old Collette Moreno was killed in a car crash on Missouri highway 5 last Friday while on the way to her bachelorette party at Lake of the Ozarks.

At around 3 p.m., riding in a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu, Moreno and her best friend, Ashley Theobald, took a selfie only moments before the crash.

The two decided to overtake a truck on the two-lane road because it was emitting black fumes and causing discomfort to Moreno who suffered from asthma. However, the two did not see an oncoming 1990 Dodge Ram that had just crested the hill until it was too late. Both vehicle tried to swerve to avoid each other, but the Ram struck the Malibu's passenger side.

Theobald and the driver of the Ram, 25-year-old Melvin Garber, escaped with minor injuries, while Moreno was taken to a Columbia hospital and was later pronounced dead.

Moreno was set to marry her fiancé on July 26th.

Theobald now faces misdemeanor charges for careless and imprudent driving, but no criminal charges.
