► It's been a while since my last "train special", so I'm happy to present to you: The Yurikamome Line - a monorail traveling from Shimbashi in Central Tokyo, to Toyosu via Odaiba, an artificial island in Tokyo bay.
The line is named after the black-headed seagull ("Yurikamome" in Japanese) - a frequent guest of Tokyo Bay area.
Yurikamome has a very modest ridership compared to all the other lines in Tokyo, only 110.000 per day, and I guess 80-90% of them go on weekends, visiting Odaiba beach and boardwalk, hosting lots of restaurant & entertainment, primarily aimed at families.
