Heavy fighting are still going on in Deir-Ez-Zor as it became one of the most prominent battles in Syria. Al-Nusra front has a strong presence in Deir-Ez-Zor and managed to expel ISIS from the city earlier in February.
Rebel infighting in Deir Ez zor province has reignited, with the Islamic State of Iraq
and the Levant (ISIS) struggling to displace its extremist rival, Jabhat al-Nusra. Unlike
in neighboring Hassakeh province and in Raqqa, ISIS is losing ground to al-Nusra, largely due to the latter's superior organization and governance tactics in Deir
Ezzor. There, ISIS has failed to maintain the bases and headquarters necessary to wage a proper battle.
Rebels have tried in the meantime to attack the village of Jafra in order to try and take the military airbase but the Syrian Army with NDF forces managed to stop any
infiltration into the village of Jafra.
The Militants now try to hold their ground and attack possible areas that the Syrian
uses as barracks from the "Workers district" which lays close to the airbase.
