If we like it or not, wild animal breeding in captivity will play an increasingly important role in endangered species conservation. Rhino populations are declining, the Sumatran and Java rhino are doomed already - disappearing unnoticed by the majority of us. While we still have viable population numbers left for the White rhino, the clock is ticking loud for this species as well! So, the time is now to take further actions and secure viable cells in form of sperm as a genetic resource! Should we fail to protect rhinos in their natural habitat now, at least we still have the tools at hand in future to recreate genetically diverse captive rhinos populations to be released back, once wiser generations than the current succeed to establish save refuges!
