I'm going to show you how to do a fishtail headband. This look is very much like what Jennifer Aniston does and Lauren Conrad. It's just a really nice casual look. So we're going to start by parting the hair in a deep side part. I find that doing this it's a lot more dramatic of a look. And the braid is going to remain in this area. So you're going to want to section off the back of your hair and just get it out of the way. It will make it a lot easier for the braiding.

Now you'll take a small subsection right here at the part and just split it into two sections, taking a small piece from the outside of that subsection and crisscrossing it in the middle. Now you'll take from the outside and adding the hair to the outside section, and crossing it over the middle, and repeating on the opposite side. You want to take nice small sections and keeping it nice and tight against your scalp.

This is a nice alternative also, to just doing the regular standard French braid head band. Keep the sections nice and clean. A nice tip to keep the hair from tangling up is to make sure that each time you cross a piece over, you just brush your fingers all the way down to the bottom, otherwise you'll start getting knots and you'll get lost.

Normally, I'll stop picking up hair when I get to the outer corner of your eyebrow. I'm just using the hair in the two subsections. Normally, I like to stop the braid about a third of the way down and tying it off with a clear band or black band depending on your hair color. Now I'm going to section the hair from the part here and just take it diagonally towards the back of your head.

Normally, to secure this piece I like to add a bit of teasing, because it helps to hold the bobby pins. So you'll tease a tiny section just at the root. Taking the end of that braid and just bringing it back and securing it with bobby pins. For the most secure hold I like to crisscross my bobby pins, and you'll just drop down the rest of the hair. Fluff it up a little bit, and there you have your fishtail headband.
