From the streets of Copenhagen to the Syrian frontline, witness the gangster and drug dealer Abderrozak Benarabe's brutal jihad experience as he is smuggled across borders to battle the Assad regime.

Big A, as Benarabe is known back home, had made a deal with God. If his brother was delivered from cancer, he pledged, he would redeem his criminal ways by fighting Jihad in Syria. "I said to God, 'If you make him healthy, then I'll get my act together'". Despite having only a vague understanding of the situation in Syria, as his brother gained in strength, so too did his resolve to serve Allah, leading him to join the ranks of a Salafi-Islamist group involved in the conflict. In bombed-out city ruins, men fight alongside children with rudimentary arms against an army of tanks and aerial bombardments. "You can see they just have hand-weapons, and the other side has tanks. It's an uneven fight". As Benerabe returns home to gather supplies to level the playing field, we see the cost of war in more senses than one. 67,000 Euros, to be precise. "We've got night vision goggles, dot scopes for AK47s, rifle scopes so you can hit stuff 800m away". With shocking footage of rebel fighters picked off yards from the camera, this is an uncompromising look at modern warfare.
