Hasan Nisar - highly regarded Pakistani analyst and columnist - describes the factors responsible for the backwardness of Muslims around the world. According to him, Muslims are: (a) deliberately kept in ignorance by their leaders (via distortion of history and facts) as a means to rule them; and (b) prevented from improving their present conditions through constant emphasis by religious leaders on the after-life.
