Jodha wants even the servants of the 'Haram' to have some amount of freedom. Mahamanga is against it. She feels that servants are meant to be given orders to and should not have anykind of freedom. She goes to Akbar to inform him that Jodha is changing the laws of 'Haram'. Akbar goes to visit Jodha. But Jodha instead asks him to come along with her and visit certain parts of the kingdom. She shows him how people are forced to work in his Kingdom against their own will. She shows him how slavery in his kingdom has led to a child getting separated from his mother. Akbar promises to re-unite the child and his mother. Sujamal meanwhile takes shelter on a tree, just then he sees Abul Mali and Shareef planning a plot to kill Akbar. Sujamal does not recognise Shareef. Mahamanga informs Rukaiyaa about Jodha changing 'Haram's' laws and Akbar supporting her. Rukaiyaa gets jealous and angry.
Jodha Akbar is a sixteenth century love story about a political marriage of convenience saga between a Mughal emperor, Akbar, and a Rajput princess, Jodhaa. But much more then that it's the marriage of contrasts.
