“The Choices We Make” follows two high school seniors as they face the difficulties of teen pregnancy. Maria and Tramell, a young couple three months away from graduating high school, find themselves facing a decision that will change their lives forever. As they debate whether to keep their child, they struggle with the repercussions that come with whichever path they take. This true to life portrayal of the challenges that young couples face puts the viewer directly into the lives of the characters. You feel the worry, the fear, the influence of loved ones, and the anxiety that comes with an uncertain future. What will this young couple do?
This short film was written by Tiara Bennett of Brooklyn, New York and directed by Alison Maclean (Jesus’ Son, Crush).
For 15 years, Scenarios has asked teens to share their realities, and they have responded with a raw and revealing constellation of voices of what it means to be a teenager today. Scenarios uses the incredible power of storytelling and filmmaking to create curricula the gives students the chance to speak out, be heard and lead on the issues that really matter to not only themselves but their communities. We start by bringing our REAL DEAL curriculum and films into middle school and high school classrooms. The curriculum engages students to think critically and creatively about the issues they face. And we say: Now Tell Us Your Story!
