You knew they couldn’t just let it go. Disney has officially announced a Frozen sequel is on the way! For months now, Disney and the filmmakers behind the number one animated movie of all-time, Frozen, have denied plans for a sequel were in the works, but that all ended today as Frozen 2 has officially been announced! Disney chairman and CEO Bob Iger made the announcement during a shareholder meeting. Original Frozen directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee will return to develop the film and at least one original cast member, Josh Gad, who played “Olaf” in the film will be back for the sequel. During the announcement, Gad joked that the film would be titled, Frozen 2: Rogue One a reference to the title of the first Star Wars standalone movie that was also announced. As of now, there is no official release date for the sequel, but there will be plenty of Frozen material to keep fan’s appetites satiated. A short film titled Frozen Fever is set to debut this weekend in front of Disney’s live-action Cinderella and a Broadway show it currently being developed for a planned 2017 debut. With the creative talent from the original film, including Buck and Lee, busy working on that, it’s likely we won’t see Frozen 2 arriving in theaters for some time.
