Many of my billschannel tipsters have been sending me links to various stories about a dead mermaid being found.

Now depending on the report, the corpse has been found in Mexico, Belgium, and even Pakastan…

But what I want to know is, is this mermaid real or fake?

I took a closer look at the actual pictures of this thing. They show what look like a young and beautiful mermaid…

Her face looks like she might be a model - High cheek bones, big angelina jolie lips, and a nose so thin, her merman might have been a plastic surgeon.

But, unless she just passed away, it would make no sense for her face to be in this condition.

A corpse that floats in the ocean for awhile becomes very bloated. And according to the scientific American website, the body will blister and turn greenish black in a short amount of time.

But In this wide view, we are treated to skin that looks like she just came out of a spa. And another oddity is that her breasts have no nipples.

I mean, I assume Mermaids have babies… and if they do, they must breast feed in someway…But how this happen when there is no nipple?

The other photos show the lower portion of the body but there’s nothing unusual here except for the fact that there is absolutely no sign of decay on her hand. And those fingers look incredibly slender and cinderella-ish. Maybe a little too refined if you ask me.

So what are we too think of this? Is this a real mermaid or is this some kind of hoax. Well, for me, it all smells kind of fishy, so I stopped by snopes dot com to see if they had anything on it.

Sure enough there it was…. And according to snopes, anyone who had seen the movie “Pirates of the Caribbean - On stranger tides” should be familiar with pictures, because the mermaid we see in these pictures is the same one that was used in the movie.

Snopes also claims the prop was created by movie special effects king Joel Harlow

Mermaid videos and Mermaid pictures are all over the internet. They are all relateed to a "mermaid found" story. Some even call them mermaids caught on tape. The interest in mermaids really took off when Animal Planet released their documentary "Mermaids: The Body Found."
