Video showing a canopy up and over garage door with a remote control operator and canopy bow arm conversion kit operating. The bow arm shown in this video is the converter for Hormann canopy doors. Others are available from Hormann for other makes of garage doors.
A canopy up and over garage door has a unique 'twisting' type action with the door weight lifted by cables attached to a torsion spring above the door lifting the door panel with rollers at the sides. To operate this door manually it has to be pushed from below and pulled from above the pivot point and that is what this bow arm system does to ensure the door opens fully. Without this converter you will never get the door to be balance properly and safe to use.
Most garage doors of a one piece construction in the UK are a canopy type still but not all can be converted using this method, the panel has to be strong and rigid and the mechanism totally suitable.
Older Henderson and Cardale canopy doors will not be suitable for this bow arm combined with a boom type electric motor system.
