This play is based on a novel by Razia Butt and centres on Partition and
how families were separated from their loved ones because of the divide.
It is the story of Bano who lives in Ludhiana with her family and is in
love with her sister-in-law's brother Hassen, who is a freedom fighter
and dreams of a separate Muslim state. Contrary to Hassen's beliefs,
Bano's brother Salim believes in a unified India and is against
partition. It is because of these conflicting views that the two
families are separated at the time of Partition as Hassen moves to
Pakistan and Salim decides to stay on. The riots that ensue wreak havoc
on many lives, including Salim's family. Bano faces the brunt of
brutality as she is kidnapped and kept in captivity. Watch this play to
find out Bano's fate.
