I saw this movie recently, after seeing clips posted on you tube and i have to say it made me extreamly sad.The boy must have really loved this canadian soldier that suddenly appeard in his life, so much so that many years later as an old man he wrote a book, not for us, but as his title says for his lost soldier. To this day he hasnt seen the man that made such an impact on his young life. I feel sad that the soldier didnt love the boy, instead of the attention and companionship that the boy craved the soldier instead chose to abuse the boy, doing things that left the boy confused and scared (read the book to understand this as the film didnt show the darker side of the relationship) he was fond of him that is true, and obviously sexually attracted to him, but i doubt that he truely loved the boy, for if he did he wouldnt have been able to leave without returning to see the boy again. Or maybe i am wrong and he intended to come back for the boy but was killed before the end of the war, i really dont know, but either way it is f**king sad. I wonder if the soldier ever truly knew how much the boy loved him??
I am not good at writing, and there is so much going round in my head about this story that i cannot put down in words so i fail to express how deaply moved i am by this story (i even have a tear in my eyes thinking about it while writing this).
Hope you enjoy.
