The Hydroptère built by DCNS of France is the fastest sailing boat in the world, capable of going over 51 knots (100 km/63 miles) an hour by rising above the water on its skids in a minimum ten knots of wind.
Now, the Hydroptere will attempt to break the Los-Angeles to Honolulu sailing world record of 4 days, 19 hours, achieved in 2005 at an average speed of 19,17 knots.
Today, with the help of DCNS and their new and improved Hydroptere, Alain Thébault and his team want to blow away the old LA-Honolulu record and prove that the fastest sailing boat in the world is capable of smashing trans-oceanic records!
