. The Ministry for Primary Industries requires all imported sea containers to be checked in line with the Transitional Facility Operating Procedure. The procedure must be approved by MPI and is in accordance to the Biosecurity Act 1993.
Container checks must be carried out by an MPI Approved Person (AP) and the TFO must manage the documents for 7 years.

Accredited Persons for Containers
Facilities receiving containers must have one or more Accredited Persons (APs) available to check containers.
Accredited Persons must have undertaken and passed a basic container biosecurity awareness course. This course outlines what to do when checking a sea container for biosecurity risks and the MPI reporting requirements. Please ensure that your container facility has trained APs available to avoid extra charges and delays in clearing your goods.
