"Mahamatiya tells Sushim that he cannot take decision on Ashoka’s punishment himself and he will have to give two people the seal of approval on the punishment they decide. In the meantime, Mahamatya accuses Ashoka of trying to kill Sushim but Ashoka defends that Sushim insulted his mother. Elsewhere, a woman keeps an eye on Bindusara, who is complemented by a pandit for having kept up to his father’s thinking. On the other hand, Ashoka is told that for his mistake, a death penalty or being thrown out of the kingdom is the punishment but he will be given the least possible punishment.
