Here is a performance on my sisters Mehndi!
Before you watch this, id like you all to know that due to time constraints, I wasn’t planning on doing a dance on my sisters wedding at all. My dissertation literally took over my life and it ended up taking up all my time. If i wasn’t doing my dissertation, i was working, if i wasn't working, i was painting the house and getting stuff ready for her big day.
I literally handed my dissertation in on the 18th March. Once it was over, i had to make sure all the house was finished and all the other little bits were in place. The Mehndi was going to take place on the 31st, we started rehearsing for this dance on the 28th/29th.
I wish i had enough time to re-choreograph everything from top to bottom. However, we decided to keep it simple and play respect to the songs by keeping some of the moves similar to the videos.
Big Shout out to everyone involved in this dance and especially the kiddies! To pick the dance up in such short period of time is amazing. Honestly so proud of you guys!
At the end, i was happy i did the dance. After being a performer and performing for a good number of years, what kind of brother would i have been if i didn’t perform on my own sisters Mehndi? it put a smile on her face, so it was definitely worth it.
This took me back over 10 years to my brothers wedding. The 5th track that we danced to (Gumshuda), was actually first performed on my brothers wedding, I was in a kurta, aged 10, with tiny little glasses and a bad haircut! Thought it would be nice to create a legacy by performing it on my sisters wedding too.
Anyways, I hope you enjoy the dance! Big shoutout again to everyone involved. And also a massive congrats to Asiya and Jabran on their marriage. May Allah bless you with happiness and a lifetime of success xxxxx
